マーク Mark (#12）
昨日は、使っているエキストラ・ベッドの、
下のマットレスより異音がするので、ホテルにクレームし、
交換をして貰ったところ、静かなBEDに替わった。
ここ数日、息子と、ちゃんとしたクイーン・サイズの、個室BEDと、
そのエキストラ・ベッド、毎日交代して眠っているが、
広いリビングの窓際のエキストラ・ベッドで眠るのが、
何か、少々、ワクワクする感じがする、
これは私が、やはり幼稚だからだろうか・・・
夕方、こちらのTVで、毎日放映される、大きなタイヤを付けた、
特別な４WDのトラックが、屋内でレースをするプログラムを、
息子とクルマの話などをしながら観ていたが、ふと、気が付くと、
彼は、居眠りをしている・・・
２時間ほどして、起こしてやろうとしたが、
食事も要らない、お風呂にも入らない、
眠りたいと言うので、そのまま眠らせることにした。
やはり、それなりに、緊張して、疲れているのだろう。
先日、デトロイトに住む親友のマークに、mailをした。
「今、我々はカナダのロンドン市に居る。
この、"我々"の意味を知ったら、貴方は間違い無く驚くだろう。
"我々"とは、私と、息子だ。
カナダ滞在中に、２人して貴方の家を訪問したので、ついては、
週末で都合の良い日を、折り返しmailして下さい。」
マークから、すぐに返事が来た。
Mikio,
This is great news that Naoki came along with you to Canada!!!
I sure hope he is enjoying the opportunity to see more parts of the world,
especially with his father - - the sons always seem more proud when they
are with their fathers.
We have no real plans for any weekend until March. In March is when
we start working on the boat to make it ready for launch by April 1.
Even if you were able to come during one of those weekends, we would still be
available at home in the evenings.
This weekend Erik and I are going to Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, to go
skiing. We will be leaving Thursday evening and returning Sunday evening.
We are really looking forward to this trip.
Let us know when you might plan to come to visit. We will adjust
plans to try and help make the visit very special.

カナダでのワーク・パーミットを申請中で、その書類が揃えば、
一度カナダを出て、immigrationに行かなくてはイケナイので、
そのタイミングもあるが、来週にでも、デトロイトに行ってみようか、そう考えている。
マークとの再会、楽しみであるし、息子を見て、マークがどう思うか、
それが一番、楽しみである。
